Everything is well…slowly coming together

27 Jun

Hello to my faithful blog followers out there. So things here in the m-town have been quite nice lately. I have had a little time off from baby-sitting…which i would officially like to say thank you all the mothers out there…being a mom is a rough job. I really do appreciate my job as I am learning many things about children, things about myself, and a new found appreciation for the single life. During my time off. I guess you could say  some ‘exciting’ things have happened. This includes but not limited to: I received my tent, my backpack came in, oh yea and of course I received my sleeping pad. I cannot believe how quickly it will be time to get on the plane and fly on over there.

At this time I would thank to Praise God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ for tremendous amount of grace, mercy, and faithfulness he has given since I have been home. Since returning home God has been so faithful in that he is continuing to sanctify me into the image of Christ. It is not easy, but that is the best part of it all. God has blessed me so much with the new Sunday school class I have been in. I am so thankful for the Johnson’s example of what it means to speak truth even when the world disagrees. It has been refreshing to see about 5-10 (not accurate so think of more in biblical terms and not our accuracy) men stepping up and taking responsibility for that which God has called men to do. Also I am so thankful for Bettie, Whitney, and Beth as they have been here for my transition back to the world of Memphis….thanks for listening to my brain. I am also so thankful for the direction in which the Pastor of Ellendale Baptist Church is setting the example of for the church. He truly is a biblicist, realizing that it is the power of the Word to pierce through the marrow of man and not man’s word.  I am also thankful for the time I am able to spend with the family that God has given me. The roof over my head and the food in my belly is much appreciated ;). I am so thankful to him for those who have committed to pray for me while I am over seas. The list of thankfulness could go on forever…God has truly blessed me in all things for the sake of his name, to the praise of His glorious grace!

Attention…New Update on Trip

21 May

Last Tuesday I was able to meet with my boss and fellow co-worker to discuss my departure. I must admit it was quite an exciting moment. I know that I our team is going to be great. The reason why I know this is because my boss was wearing Chacos and we met at starbucks! This was the moment I knew that it was going to be great…sad I know but true. Ok on to the stuff I know you actually care about and away from my insignificant superstitions.

The meeting was a success in that I was able to get an inside glimpse of what conditions will be like…HOTT! I will be living in the Sahara so naturally conditions will be hot. Also I was informed that I will be getting malaria; however, with prophylactic antibiotic treatment it will be a less severe case without the antibiotics (this is simply a fancy way of saying taking antibiotics before hand). I suppose this is comforting except to my mom who after the fact was updated by my sister that malaria is deadly. (Thanks sis) Anyways, the people group I am going to be working with has not really had workers in the area. Therefore, my co-workers who are already there are some of the first. They said that there are only around 50 brethren out of the 3 million people there. The work will be hard, but I am sure that our Father will be most gracious in helping us to survive for His name sake.

Thanks for all the thoughts and encouragement. I will update you further as I get more information. Also, there will be a posting on the craziness in Memphis in a post soon to come (just for April 😉 ).

Hey Everyone!
